Justin Wagner, the Democrat who plans to challenge Republican Sen. Greg Ball in November, will report $103,000 raised in his January disclosure report.

The figure includes a $35,000 personal loan to the campaign from Wagner.

“This successful effort is proof positive that voters want leaders who are focused on solutions and building community—not divisive Albany politicians like Greg Ball,” Wagner said. “This filing will allow us to build the infrastructure necessary to win in November, and I’m looking forward to sharing my vision with Hudson Valley voters about the need to create jobs and reform government in Albany.”

Wagner added that his fund raising didn’t begin in earnest until the final three months of the reporting cycle.

Ball, a colorful lawmaker known for his unpredictable streak, is considered a prodigous fund raiser in the 40th Senate District, which covers Putnam and Westechester counties.

It is not clear if Ball will even run for the Senate seat. He has made critical remarks aimed at Republican Rep. Nan Hayworth, raising the possibility that he would challenge her in a primary.
