DeRosa Joining Cuomo Administration

[DeRosa will be working in the administration’s all-important
appointments office, but it is unclear exactly what her title will be.]

If it’s unclear what her title will be and I bet that Cuomo’s people don’t have a salary figure available either, then WHY IN THE HELL IS SHE BEING HIRED?

Cuomo is just pissing away more of the taxpayers’ money on another patronage appointment. Simultaneously, Governor 1% threatens and abuses people making a lot less than the approximately $150,000 per year that I bet Ms. DeRosa will make.

Here’s what I’d like somebody from the LCA to tell us:

1) What exactly are the duties of Cuomo’s appointments office? I bet that a lot of people don’t know. Does Cuomo’s appointments office do more than just make civil service
exempt appointments? How much work
is there to do at the “appointments office, ” a year into the Cuomo administration? Are they his “scheduler” for everything?

2)Early on, Cuomo made Judge Leslie G. Leach his
Appointments Secretary. What does Mr. Leach DO eight hours a day, 5 days
a week? Really. I’d like to know. Does he play solitaire on his computer all day? Does he live and work in Albany? NYC?

4) Why does Mr. Leach NEED a second highly paid “management” person in his office?
What is Ms. DeRosa’s job description? Surely, the Cuomo administration
has a job description. Ask for it, please. This sounds like another Susan Savage arrangement.

5) Who is Cuomo trying to curry favor with or reward with Ms. DeRosa’s
appointment? Her husband, who must be making hellaciously big bucks as a
partner at one of the top lobbying firms in Albany, has an interesting
background. The fact that he helped procure, at one time, the state health plan drug contract for a client makes me suspicious of him already. Speaking of the state health plan, what’s taking so long for Cuomo to decide that he should sign that bill banning mandatory mail order drug? Hmmmm.

BTW, here’s a description of Nelson Rockefeller’s appointments office from the Rockefeller Family Archives available online:

Subseries 1, Appointments Office, 1959-1965, 9 cu. ft. The
Appointments Office maintained the Governor’s schedule in this period.
The Appointments Officer and his staff reviewed invitations to the
Governor to speak or to attend events, and arranged the Governor’s
travel itineraries. They made arrangements for travel and accommodations
and made sure that proper protocol was followed. This material also
documents Rockefeller’s extensive campaign trips in 1960, 1962 and 1964.
The files are arranged chronologically and date from November 1959 to
December 1965. They contain correspondence; internal memoranda; the
staff’s handwritten notes regarding itineraries and scheduling problems;
published itineraries for the benefit of the press; background
information on the host organization for the benefit of Governor
Rockefeller; transcripts of Governor Rockefeller’s speeches and press

This response leads me now to believe that both of you have gotten into the model glue cabinet.

My my, Ms. Noonan. You must work for either in governor’s press office, the appointments office or are soon to be joining the appointments office. In any case, you need to work on your reading comprehension. The thrust of my post was that the Governor continues to lard up the state payroll with patronage appointees, despite his claims that he’s Mr. Reform and we’ve all got to tighten our belts, share the pain etc.

For instance, even a jackass like you should know that the Deputy Commisioners (and variations on that title) jobs are unnecessary positions filled by overpaid, non-contributing cronies of whatever governor may currently be in power. A REAL reformer would have eliminated 95% of those positions, especially in dire economic times .Yet what did Governor 1% do? He loaded up the deputy positions just like his daddy before him. In fact, he’s loading up state government EVERYWHERE with worthless patronage employees. Which brings us to the appointments office.

Since you seem to know so much about government, why do you enlighten the rest of us about EXACTLY what the duties of appointments office are these days? How many full-time employees do they gave? Pick anyone of the questions I asked and dazzle us with your brilliance.

I hope that you have an answer better than THIS gem that you tossed out there: “What if this is a hire to replace a now-vacant position?” Jeezus. You are suggesting that as long as the new patronage employee is replacing a departed patronage employee, everything is fine. Never mind that the position in question is a waste of the taxpayers’ money REGARDLESS OF WHO FILLS THE JOB!

Furthermore, if Ms. DeRosa were simply replacing someone, her title SHOULD be that of the person who is departing. Yet, the governor’s people say that they don’t know WHAT Ms. DeRosa’s title will be. That kind of blows a hole in your replacement theory, eh?

Ms. Noonan — go back to doing whatever it is you pretend to be doing during business hours and leave the discussion about cronyism and the governor’s hypocrisy to posters who aren’t shilling for somebody…like you are.
