Dems Attack Collins For Parking In Handicap Spot

The Erie County Executive race is starting to get dirty.

Today the state Democratic Party attacked Republican incumbent Chris Collins for parking in a handicap spot back in July and then again in October. The illegal parking was reported by Buffalo weekly paper Artvoice and also wnymedia.net.

Democratic Party Executive Director Charlie King fired off this missive in a press release just moments ago.

“King Collins is at it again, showing blatant disregard for the law – not to mention common decency – by parking in a handicapped spot outside a local high school this summer. The kicker is – based on these photos – Collins had plenty of non-handicapped parking options. I’d like to say I’m surprised, but I’m not. This pattern of behavior has happened before, and knowing this guy’s arrogance, it’ll happen again.”

This race is seen to be one of the closest in the state for this off-year election. A Siena College poll from a few weeks ago showed that Collins only had a 3 point lead over Democratic challenger Mark Poloncarz. Siena is expected to be out with another poll in coming days. And Governor Cuomo will be holding a get out the vote rally for Poloncarz tomorrow in Amherst.

NYS Executive Director Democratic Charlie “wanabe” King sent this to you. Cuomo/King attempted to take over the Erie County Dem Committee & failed, making fools out of themselves in the process. Quoting a couple of ultra lib blogs. Did you bother to fact check. The WNY Media nonsense was on a Sunday every space in the lot was empty. The other big deal from Artvoice. Its common practice for elected officials to park in front of any place they might happen to be. These guys are on call 24/7 & law enforcement sees this a sop. Charlie King’s statement is calm compared to what I would say. This is not a race “getting dirty”. It’s not dirty to point out some arrogant a** parked in a handicapped parking spot to avoid walking 8 feet. It goes to character – and as Charlie King said, common decency.
Thank you, Charlie King for raising awareness of the issue. I never understood why tweeting “naughty” pictures was a campaign killer but this level of disregard for the struggles of others was overlooked by the media.
You’ll find City Council members all over NYC parked in handicapped spots and everyone looks the other way.

It’s not libel if he did it. I’m not an “ultra lib” but I don’t like your “common practice”. If every other space in the lot was empty, why not walk 8 more feet? Get over yourself.
