Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, widely viewed as a rising star in Republican circles, cut an advertisement for his slate of candidates who back his fiscal agenda.

The 30-second spot features Astorino with his rather telegenic family raking leaves.

Here’s the script:

“I’m Rob Astorino

“Like you, we’re raising our family and we do what we can to try to save for college.

“We need what you need: property tax relief and a healthy economy.

“Because if Westchester doesn’t become more affordable our kids won’t be living here when they’re older.

“So I’m supporting the Candidates for a Healthy Westchester, a ticket of like-minded reformers who care.

“Because, for those we love, a healthy Westchester is an affordable Westchester.”

The Board of Legislators in Westchester is divided 12-5 in favor of Democrats who have sparred with Astorino when it comes to slashing the county budget. The board has been able to override Astorino’s vetoes on a number of spending issues. In response, county executive’s “Candidates for a Healthy Westchester” campaign was formed with the hope of breaking the veto-proof majority.

Astotrino has also been at the forefront of finding a replacement for the aging Tappan Zee Bridge, which crosses his county with Rockland.
