Matt Wing Leaving de Blasio’s Office
NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is losing his Communications Director Matt Wing. In a letter, Wing says he is looking forward to getting more sleep, and pursuing new opportunities. There’s no mention of where he will be working next, or who will be replacing him – though Press Secretary Wiley Norvell will handle any requests in the interim.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that after two and a half great years I am stepping down as Public Advocate Bill de Blasio’s Communications Director.
Working for Bill has been one of the most rewarding and valuable experiences of my career. I am proud and grateful for having had the opportunity to serve at the side of an extraordinary public official and with the incredible team at the Public Advocate’s office. I am now looking forward to pursuing new opportunities and to occasionally getting some sleep.
My great thanks to the many people on this list who have made working in City Government over the past several years so much fun.
Matt Wing
Matt’s been active in state, local and national politics since 2006. He got his start as the Roth Fellow for the Senate Republican press shop in 2006 and 2007. He moved on to work for then Attorney General Andrew Cuomo in 2007 and 2008. And then left for the 2008 campaigns to be the Political Communications coordinator for the Change to Win Federation, a coalition of labor groups that was instrumental in getting President Obama and many other Democrats elected.
