The national House Majority PAC, a Democratic-run organization, is unleashing a new television ad today tying Republican Bob Turner to the tea party as concerns grow that David Weprin will come up short on Tuesday.

“If Republicans are going to play footsies with the Tea Party, the House Majority PAC is going to stomp on their toes,” said Ali Lapp, Executive Director, House Majority PAC. “House Majority PAC will be educating voters in NY-09 of Robert Turner’s embrace of the Tea Party and his commitment to reducing taxes for the wealthiest, while making seniors pay more for Medicare.”

City Hall News reported this morning in their email blast that it appears the DCCC has stepped up its coordinating efforts with the Weprin campaign — a sign that someone somewhere has most likely pushed the panic button in this race.

It comes as the DCCC also started its own $500,000 ad campaign on Weprin’s behalf. In an embarrassing move yesterday, the DCCC had to alter its anti-Turner ad after it showed a low-flying plane juxtaposed with New York City’s skyline, unfortunate imagery given Sunday’s anniversary.

Turner spokesman Bill O’Reilly responds, pointing out just how weird this campaign has become.

“Wizards, airplanes over Manhattan — and now a Sam Adams beer commercial? The Weprin campaign has jumped the shark. How much more unglued can the Weprin campaign become?”
