Assemblyman: Teachers Union ‘Despicable’
A reader sent in this clip of Assemblyman Joel Miller getting rather heated outside yesterday’s joint legislative budget hearing on education aid, arguing with one of the AQE protestors who crashed the event with chants of: “Governor Cuomo, don’t kiill CFE!”
Miller, a Hudson Valley Republican, lamnasted the teachers unions that are opposing the governor’s proposed education spending cuts, calling them “selfish, self-centered, egocentric people who want nothing but increases in pay.”
“I’m supported by unions, but the teachers union is the worst, absolutely the worst. They’re despicable….Despicable beyond belief,” Miller said.
The assemblyman apparently got upset when he spotted one of the protestor’s t-shirts that read: “Protect the kids, not the millionaires.” He reportedly got quite upset, dropping a few f-bombs and refusing to be pulled away from the argument by staffers.
The entire video of this exchange is about 13 minutes long, so the back-and-forth went on for quite some time.
