Four Dems Split With Caucus, Create New Conference
Even before Wednesday’s state of the state speech, there was some drama in the state senate. Four disenfranchised Democrats decided to break from their conference – sighting serious concerns with the current leadership – and form their own Independent Coalition.

The four-person coalition includes Central New York Senator Dave Valesky, newly elected Hudson Valley Senator Dave Carlucci, Senator Diane Savino from Staten Island and the former Deputy Majority leader of the senate, Jeff Klein, who represents parts of the Bronx and Westchester County.
