Fight Back PAC, the political action committee formed with the sole purpose of ousting senators who voted “no” on gay marriage last December and replacing them with “yes” voters, sent out an early-morning e-mail with the subject line: “8 Months + $800,000 = 3 New Votes for Marriage Equality!”

The message touted the victory of two same-sex marriage Democrats: Former NYC Councilman Tony Avella, who defeated GOP Sen. Frank Padavan in the 11th SD and Tim Kennedy, who won a three-way race in the 58th SD over incumbent Sen. Bill Stachowski (who lost the Sept. 14 primary to Kennedy, but was still on the WFP and Independence Party lines) and GOP Assemblyman Jack Quinn.

“Successfully eliminating two more anti-equality candidates and ensuring pro-equality candidates replaced them wasn’t easy,” the Fight Back team wrote.

“You helped drive nearly $800,000 into three strategically targeted districts and picked up three new marriage votes. Your support ensured constant direct communication with target voters – including hundreds of thousands of mail pieces, and radio and TV ads which aired over 1,200 times.”

The only problem, of course, is that it’s not at all certain the Democrats will retain the majority.

In the months leading up to Election Day, Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson was reluctant to commit to bringing the marriage bill back to the floor for a vote, despite the fact that now Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo said seeing the measure passed and signed into law would be a “priority” for his first year in office.

The GOP, which voted in a bloc against the marriage bill in spite of advocates’ claims that there was support from four or more minority conference members for the legislation, is unlikely to engaged it fragile hold on the majority – if it manages to wrest it back from the Democrats – by taking up this controversial bill.

UPDATE: Empire State Pride Agenda’s Ross Levi, who’s taking a bit of a victory lap this morning, pointed out that the marriage issue is one area where the fiscally-conservative governor-elect can show he still has Democratic/liberal cred.

Also, he reasoned, the GOP will want to do something to woo the center/left if they do take the majority and want to hold it in 2012. And Levi reminded me that Minority Leader Dean Skelos recently told the Log Cabin Republicans he would recommend that the marriage bill come to the floor for another vote if the GOP returns to power in the chamber.

Fight Back conceded it’s still awaiting word on the fate of some of its strongest Democratic allies (Sens. Craig Johnson and Antoine Thompson are fighting for their respective political lives), but insisted its efforts had “sent shockwaves” through Albany and demonstrated the strength of the LGBT movement.

“If you plan on standing in the way of our rights, we’re going to fight like hell to see you replaced by someone who supports equality. And we will win,” the PAC’s leaders warned.

UPDATE2: Fight Back spokesman Alex Navarro-McKay sent the following stats on the PAC’s spending:

- Over $200,000 on TV and radio in support of Kennedy and against Quinn.
- )ver $150,000 in direct mail against Padavan and in support of Avella.

That’s in addition to several hundred thousand dollars spent successfully against expelled-ex-Sen. Hiram Monserrate in March and against Stachowski in the September Democratic primary.
