PPNYC Takes Political Protection To A New Level
In one of the more novel applications of a campaign slogan I’ve seen in some time, the Planned Parenthood NYC Action Fund is hosting a bar crawl in Sen. Frank Padavan’s Queens district during which activists will be handing out free comdoms that urge voters to “protect” themselves from the veteran GOP lawmaker.
Padavan is pro-life and has consistently voted against legislation PPNYC supports, including the Women’s Health and Wellness bill and the Clinic Access and Anti-Stalking Act (he was one of just four state senators to vote “no”) and the Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Act.
The group plans to hit five bars and will kick the crawl at 8 p.m.
Padavan is being challenged this fall by former Democratic NYC Councilman Tony Avella. In 2008, he nearly lost a very tight race against Avella’s former colleague, NYC Councilman Jim Gennaro.
