I was struck by the similarities between this fund-raising appeal, which is really all it was, and Senator Joseph McCarthy’s 6 April 1954 appearance on Edward R. Murrow’s program. I refer particularly to the use of the lie, the half-truth, and the accusation presented as fact.

Just one example: I have no direct knowledge of Andrew Cuomo’s “prowess,” nor of any reputation he may have for “prowess.” But my point is that I doubt Paladino does either If he did he’d have been more specific by now, because the “issue” is obviously quite central to his campaign. Also, if the New York Times did indeed confirm that Dicker and the Post was behind whatever incident Paladino is talking about involving his daughter, then why didn’t the Times link to their own story on the issue in their story, here:

on this speech? Did Dicker deny sending a reporter to the house? My impression is that they didn’t deny trying to cover the daughter but did deny the specific allegations of following her to school and looking through the window and such.

At this point I have no impression Paladino remembers what he’s talking about anymore.

Let’s be clear about New York. I was born here, I own a business here, and I pay taxes here. I really do love New York, but our Government is a train wreck and most of politicians should be in jail. I’ll be voting for Carl Paladino because when I get I get screwed I ‘ll know that he never promised me a kiss! We should dump most of the Democrats into New Jersey and let them deal with Chris Christie.

There’s some question over whether or not Jimmy McMillan is allowed on the ballot because he doesn’t have a running mate (the reason Steven Cohn got tossed off the ballot). Either way, I doubt Jimmy cares that much, because he’s openly stated that he doesn’t care about upstate New York.

[ Paladino offered no proof to back up that statement. ] Political prowess, Liz. Your bias is beginning to show. I’m generally a fan of your work, but throwing these little jabs in there are losing my respect, for what it’s worth.

So….Stone was doing the advance work for this and we’ll have to wait to see what’s in store.

Here’s a message for Carl Paladino:

Get a copy of your daughter’s school’s FERPA policy that she received within 30 days of having started school this year. Ask what happens if you don’t opt-out.

Smart move. He doesn’t have to back up his statements about Cuomo because as discussed — the issues are more important — however the doubt will linger. Good bind.

It was a good night and the Paladino train is back on track….it is unbelievable that the Cuomo camps effort to derail was soooo bad my 10 year old figured it out. Oh ok I’ll debate now. What about the other 6 invites……..vote no to the status cuomo.

i must be confused… it almost sounds like Andrew was the lone holdout yet it was Paladino who was the last to agree to the debate… If Paladino is so much in support of giving these third party candidates an opportunity to speak, why didnt he sign on before Cuomo?
