Well. It wasn’t an apology, that’s for sure.

UPDATE: The video has arrived!

The upshot:

Carl Paladino used his three-minute TV spot to defend his anger in response to the Post trying to take photographs of the daughter he fathered out of wedlock and to ask why AG Andrew Cuomo isn’t asked questions about affairs, adding: “Does the media ask Andrew these questions? Andrew’s prowess is legendary.”

Paladino offered no proof to back up that statement.

He then went on to say: “No. This campaign must be about bigger issuyes. Not affairs or divorces. Because this state is in a death spiral.”

He called many in the Legislature “crooks”, but didn’t name names.

Paladino insisted he has a “plan” that includes drilling in the Marcellus shale, strict ethics reform and cutting spending and taxes.

He called on Cuomo to “come out and debate like a man”, insisting the AG is trying to shut out the only African American in the race (NYC Councilman Charles Barron) and the only woman in the race (Manhattan Madam Kristin Davis), even though he’s actually the only one who has failed to agree to participate in the Oct. 18 debate announced shortly before he went on the air.

The his campaign chairwoman, former Erie County Comptroller Nancy Naples came on the screen to make a plea for “emergency” contributions and lambaste the media for trying to “smear” Paladino.

Naples said Paladino is “outgunned” in the money department, despite his pledge to spend up to $10 million of his own cash on his campaign, adding: “Cuomo has $20 million of Albany insider money. The Paladino campaign needs your urgent help. Carl and Cathy can’t do it alone.”
