Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice, who is already leading the fundraising pack among the five Democratic AG contenders, is enjoying a last-minute influx of campaign contributions from a diverse group of donors that includes a union, two high-profile attorneys, an upstate congressman and the state party chairman.

So far today, Rice has collected $86,000, according to the 24-hour notices list on the state Board of Elections Website.

Yesterday, she socked away $84,000, $50,000 of which came from hedge funder Stanley Druckenmiller.

As of the 11-day pre-primary filing, Rice had $2.8 million on hand, although she was out-raised in the last 18-day fundraising period of the race by Sen. Eric Schneiderman.

Rice’s biggest last-minute donor is Donald Flexner of Boies, Schiller & Flexner, who gave two contributions – both today – of $15,000 and $3,000. Christopher Boies gave Rice $8,000. The firm’s founder, David Boies contributed $20,000 to the DA’s statewide campaign over the summer.

Rep. Brian Higgins, a Buffalo Democrat, sent Rice $5,000. Local 1102 RWDSU ponied up $2,500.

As Reid Pillifant pointed out earlier today, state Democratic Party Chairman Jay Jacobs sent Rice $5,000 yesterday.

Before you start reading too deeply into the tea leaves (Jacobs = party = AG Andrew Cuomo), recall that the chairman is also the head of the Nassau County Democratic Party and has long been a Rice supporter.
