With all the drama coming out of the race for governor, it’s easy to overlook those down ballot races where the tit for tat between the candidates is playing out mostly over the airwaves and via press release.

The race for State Comptroller is no exception – both Democratic incumbent Tom DiNapoli and Republican Harry Wilson have launched negative attack ads calling the qualifications of their opponent into question. The only problem is voters don’t seem to be paying attention.

According to a Quinnipiac poll released last week, 91 percent of New Yorkers don’t know who Wilson is. And 66 percent don’t know enough about DiNapoli to form an opinion of him. The good news – there’s still time to change all that and we’re here to help. On Monday, the two candidates will face off right here on YNN in a live debate.

Thursday, we were joined by one of those candidates. Tom DiNapoli is fighting for a full term as Comptroller after being appointed to the post in the wake of Alan Hevesi’s resignation.
