Republicans and Conservatives will not vote for Paladino. We won’t pull a lever for governor. Even though I consider myself an outsider I know enough to know Silver’s not going anywhere. If that is going to be Carl’s obsession he’ll be impeached. The Senate Democrats have been quiet. Not a peep.

I doubt this man appeals to many CapTon’s commenters who aren’t being paid by Paladino or Cuomo. He’s 71% on the right side and then implodes exponentially, for some reason, most likely the 24/7 media video accessibility. The real action is on the blogs. Perhaps that is what bothers journalists. They use to control the curve and now bloggers are threatening their territory. I still like hard copy.

It is frightening that this man, Paladino, could be Governor. The only way he could probably do it at this point would be some kind of election fraud. (Not to say it couldn’t happen, look at George W. Bush.)

NYers should vote third party for Governor. If the election happens with any reality, Paladino could not win in NY. If someone is going to cheat him in, there is nothing to be done, anyway. So, don’t waste your vote. Give it to someone who stands for something. Give your vote to a third party and help them win the race, or at least get the 50,000 votes to win automatic ballot status.

How about having Schumer on and ask him about his approval of Hank Morris working as a placement agent for Steven Rattner ?

How about having Tom DiNapoli on and ask him did Hank Morris help him get elected by the legislature in 2007 ?

How about having Mort Zuckerman and Rex Smith on together and ask then why their papers endorsed Alan Hevesi in 2006 for re-election ?

How about having Shelly Silver and Joe Bruno on together and ask them why they supported Tom DiNapoli in 2007 and who lobbied them ?

And last but not lest is the question of reporters who are to close to the people they cover or their sources.

In 2006 Errol Cockfield the Albany Bureau Chief for Newsday covered Candidate Spitzer and in 2007 he was working for Governor Spitzer.

He was not the first reporter to do it and will not be the last.

But Carl “BAM BAM” Paladino brings up the point I have been making for a very long time that one day the reporter is covering the next day working for the that person.

Then there is the question of how close reporter and source get ?

BTW, Paladino told the Buffalo News last night that he misspoke re: offering up the goods on Andy.

I say that since Andy has been allowed to walk away from the voting-for-Bloomberg issue because HE “misspoke,” then Carl should get a pass here.

I always read what you say very carefully, cp. You are often the voice of reason. I’m willing to give him a pass as you suggest, however Paladino needs to calm down and act like a gentleman. Maybe he made money as a businessman in a business that doesn’t require interpersonal skills — because he’s NO salesman, that’s for sure.

People skills are lacking here, no doubt.

Why would you waste your vote and not pull the lever? Why would you let yourself be silenced by the party bosses trying to trap you into the choice of their two, anointed overseers?

If you are going to take all the trouble to register to vote and go into the booth, pull the lever for Governor for a third party that expresses a value or issue you believe in. (And, help some third party get in their with an automatic ballot line so you will always have more choices.)

Or, at least, come on, value your own ideas and your own voice enough to write something in. Even if you write in “Politicians stink!”, at least the patronage underlings at the Board of Elections will read it, and they might mention it to their bosses.

I’m not trying to come off as a Paladino cheerleader, but as I posted elsewhere earlier …

To clarify a bit: I mean, why would you let the Democrat and Republican political bosses make you feel your choice is the two people they say or NOTHING? Why would you let them tell you sing one of their songs or SHUT UP? Why wouldn’t someone want to make their own choice, find their own heros, or at least speak their own mind…

Your Zip-code username says a lot about this claim. 11201 is a downstate code. As the Republican primary showed, upstate has a lot different idea of what they want in a gubernatorial candidate than downstate.

Is there a third party candidate whose values I believe in? I don’t think so. I’d rather not pull for either of them — and in the analysis they can determine how many opted NOT to vote for either. My voter registration entitles me to vote for other positions than governor so I don’t feel I wasted time registering.

However I do like your write in idea. That might be fun. I think I’ll write-in my father. He is definitely qualified and I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only vote he would get.

I always give CP’s posts careful consideration, too. He makes a lot of sense. I see a few differences between what Carl did and what Andrew did, however.

While I condone lying at all. Andrew’s lie about who he voted for in a past election was pretty benign and inconsequential to the issue at hand — the 2010 race for governor. Andrew’s lie didn’t hurt anyone but himself. He looked stupid.

On the other hand, Carl’s often repeated lie to the media about his opponent’s infidelity was pretty heinous. Carl was overtly trying to harm someone. That’s less deserving of a pass to me.

Let me reiterate that I’m no fan of Cuomo either.

His policy books are bullsh*t. I want to hear concrete solutions for some specific problems.

He hasn’t had to really address the HUD issue of which I’d like to hear more.

What about Farkas? I need to review what Carl is complaining about.

And there’s another thing that’s been nagging me for a long time. Remember that (alleged) yoga instructor and her friends who were posting a while back (when Liz was at the DP) about an (alleged) bad breakup between Andrew and the yoga instructor? I bet that sista 11201 remembers. Now these people may have been totally nuts. There are lots of crackpots on the internet. Their posts may have been an early smear against Cuomo. I don’t know. But the posts still bother me. Yet Cuomo shouldn’t be expected to prove a negative.

Gina was also blogging in late Sept. so it probably is in the Sept. 08 DP archives that begin at the end of the month.

I did google the doctor but then I said to myself, “No –this is not my thing.” Finding the blog post, yes. I don’t even read about Cuomo now, Buster. I read the comments of posts first — then the posts if a comments are interesting. I would have passed on anything Cuomo related in 08. His FACEBOOK involvement was old news.

Plus I don’t want to be part of perpetuating something that could be harmful to anyone’s family. I hope it’s nothing. It’s bold, that’s for sure. It could be traced back to the poster. And the doctor could be contacted. Doesn’t make sense. Once again you’re right.
