Maybe I'm alone, but I really hate the fact that it appears to be so easy for poltical camapigns to get free media by “releasing” amateurish gimmicks like this. This is no different than a TV or radio station giving a campaign free air time for political commercials.

Look back at Andy's statement that he was picking a LG candidate who could be a good governor if something happened to him. The smart money says that Spitzer's “scandal” was comparatively speaking … nothing! …

Not buying it, Student. This is Albany. No one is squeaky clean. And I don't hear Lay-Zee-Boy or Pal-A-Wacko saying word one about the integrity of the silly Service system OR abolishing the shadow government of boards, commissions, authorities and other patronage dumping grounds. One thing Andrew is is serious about consolidating and streamlining local and State government. And if he gets a voter mandate, he can interpret the message that they want to stop the dysfunction and clean up Albany. He and only he can tell the Legislature to stuff it, freeze salaries, cut the waste and restructure the executive branch, which means the agencies.

With all due respect to you Mike (and you know it is sincere), what has happened is criminal. The State is never in the business of corruption. It is never justifiable.

I'm no fan of the Republican candidates or the bosses that rule the Republican and Conservative Parties. However, that is no justification for what has happened. In fairness, there are surely Republicans who benefitted what from what the Cuomos did, and continue to benefit. Quite frankly, this is part of the reason why it has not come out. There is too much and too many involved!

Lazio is a designated loser for Cuomo. The Conservative Party has a friendly history with AG Cuomo (which is not news, it's common knowledge). What has happened is so wide spread that it cannot help butr to come out, eventually. Truth be told, many have regrets over the extent of what happened. Perhaps they thought that granting people contol over their own career destinies could be controlled. They were very wrong. Once it started, … there was simply no turning back.

Mike, I know and appreciate your integrity. If this comes out in full, I'm sure you'll agree that it was very wrong and that the punishment that they will receive,
… will be exactly what they deserve.

I see us (meaning the citizens) between a rock and a hard place politically. Truly a no win situation. It will be very interesting if a grand jury is empaneled, as you predict.

Question: do you think the impetus for the investigation and accounting will come from the State AG's office, or will it have to be the Federal US Attorney? And will it be postponed until after the 2012 national election?

I am so confused, IM. You, I can keep straight. Did someone say that there was a deal with the Conservatives to put Cuomo in (as Liz suggested long ago) and did someone reference a Cuomo scandal?

In any event — we can dream about reform but the system/status quo usually wins. You can change the system by introducing new elements — however power lust is very strong.

Cuomo certainly has taken on some Conservative ways. I just hope he would pledge to limit top of the morning to you for those who opt-in

vis a vis, the Student has been discussing a looming scandal around the entire Cuomo family, including Andrew, for awhile now and he again alluded to it in the comment above mine. I don't think the Student is so rash and impulsive as to make stuff up, so I am of the opinion that he knows whereof he posts. As far as any alleged deals with the Conservative Party, I know nothing of them or their inner workings so I cannot confirm nor deny. Although I tend to agree with your assessment (certainly, anyone who has followed NY politics as long as most of us have can be forgiven for being cynical and jaded whenever the “R” word (reform) is bandied about), it seems to me that whoever becomes our next Governor, including him, will be dispensing some very bitter medicine. Certainly, State employees are in for some rough sledding for at least a few years.
