Kerry Kennedy On ‘Stand-Up Guy’ Pedro Espada Jr.
AG Andrew Cuomo’s ex-wife, Kerry Kennedy, was at the Capitol today to rally for a farm workers rights bill and offered some effusive praise for the Senate sponsor of that bill: Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr.
“They’re so repressed in this state and anybody who will rally to their support I think is great on this issue,” Kennedy told CapTon’s Mike Whittemore.
“And I am so grateful to Senator Espada for being a stand-up guy on this issue and you know meanwhile we have Senator Sampson who’s doing nothing and Senator Aubertine who is holding, holding up this legislation, which would impact the poorest of the poor in our state and I think that’s what’s important, why we’re here today.”
When the DN’s Glenn Blain asked Kennedy if she had an opinion on the civil lawsuits brought against Espada by Cuomo, who is now working in connection with federal authorities on an ongoing investigation into the Bronx Democrat, she brushed off the question, saying:
“That’s not the point. I’m here for farm workers. Thank you.”
