Fed Up, Mad As Hell And On The Air

Hell hath no fury like a rich politician scorned.

GOP gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino has unleashed a statewide TV and radio campaign on New York this morning with spots that declare him to be the target of “unfair” attacks by the “liberal elites…like many in the Tea Party.”

A timely message, particularly given what happened in Utah this past Saturday.

Observers would have long ago discounted Paladino due to his lack of institutional support and e-mail scandal, which would have discounted any normal aspiring statewide candidate.

But a man who has pledged to spend up to $10 million of his own cash to get onto the ballot – petitioning on, if necessary – cannot be discounted.

What’s more, Paladino now commands up to 7 percent of the weighted convention vote, thanks to the loyalty of the Erie County GOP, which puts him and local party leaders in the potential position of being kingmakers when Republicans gather in Manhattan on June 1.

Let’s say Mr. Paladino becomes governor, and I say that with a grin.
Let’s say he cuts taxes 10%, and spending 20%, He will still have multi-year deficits of $10-20 billion per year.
Let this strange man explain how he will deal with that.
Let him also explain how he will cut 20%..where, what programs?

He is fighting the “liberal elites”!! Where are these elites? In the NYC media? Andrew Cuomo? But Cuomo will not run as a traditional liberal..he won’t even classify himself as a liberal, much to his father’s chagrin.

He wants Tea Party support.
In short, Paladino wants the NYS GOP to be very rightwing..further to the right than the Buckleys wanted to move it. He wants to purge any Rockefeller elements from the party. How sad!!
On Saturday, the Utah rightwingers purged long-time conservative Sen. Robert Bennett. The Utah teabaggers want a pure,hard right candidate.
The Florida teabaggers forced Gov. Christie out of the GOP.
The Arizona teabaggers want to purge McCain.
The Penn. teabaggers forced Sen.Spector out of the GOP.
I say bring it on. What could be better for the Dems. than to have an extreme GOP candidate.

I made a snide remark in a post here over the weekend.
I suggested Andy Rooney was 150 yrs. old, and keeps talking about his desk stapler.
I apolgize.
Andy’ a good man; and has made significant contributions to CBS’s good history of news reporting.
His 60 minute comment last night was right on.
He talked about looking at the Billboard top 200 songs and artists; and lamented that he didn’t know any of them.
I hear him on this.
Who the h*** is Lady Gogo.
Hip-hop is mostly trash; with little redeeming qualities.
The music congomerates mostly suck.

I’m not sure at all that Paladino is hard right either. I think he’s a throw the bums out type and has no respect for either party. This rhetoric is just to appeal to primary voters who tend to be more extreme.

You can only get those types of cuts by slashing Medicaid and school funding..not easy to do.
